It was really hard to hone in on what stamp set I wanted to use for the Birthday Bash blog hop; so many great choices to pick from. I ended up selecting Brave Vikings because the minute I saw it in the mini Jan-June catalogue I fell in love with the stamp set. Scroll to the end to see more samples using this fun stamp set. Step by Step Tutorial

– Begin with a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card base of Basic White Thick card stock; scored at the 4 ¼ mark using a Paper Trimmer

– Use a Paper Trimmer to cut

Pale Papaya cardstock to 3 ⅞ x 5 ⅛

Basic Grey cardstock to 3 ¾ x 5

Simply Marbleous DSP 2 ¼ x 4 ¾ (FREE Sale-a-bration item with $50 purchase)

– Adhere the Pale Papaya cardstock to the Basic White card base using adhesive of choice (I used liquid Tombow glue)

– Run the piece of Basic Grey cardstock through a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine using the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder

– Adhere the dry embossed Basic Grey cardstock to the Pale Papaya layer

– Adhere the Simply Marbleous DSP to the Basic Grey layer; aligning it more towards the top

– Run a piece of New Horizons DSP using the largest Layering Circle die (3″) through a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine

– Stamp the viking from the Brave Vikings stamp set in Memento Ink onto a piece of Basic White cardstock.

– Colour the Viking using Stamping Blends.

– Run the coloured viking through a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine using the 2 ⅞ Layering Circle die

– Adhere the viking circle to the New Horizon DSP circle using adhesive of choice

– Adhered the layered circles to the card base using Stampin’ Dimentionals

– Stamp the sentiment from the Brave Vikings stamp set in Memento Ink onto a piece of ¾ x 2 ½ Basic White cardstock; then punch one side using the Banners Pick a Punch punch

– Adhere the punched sentiment onto the cardbase using Stampin’ Dimentionals

– For an added subtle bling I used a touch of Wink of Stell on the blade of his sword & a Brushed Metallic Dot to the shield

Whelp, I did it. I took the cheeriest dies & Designers Series Paper (DSP) & made a sympathy card. 30+ years of being an oncology nurse does bring out the darkside… I make cards for a local mailpost store. The owner is always asking for pet sympathy cards. As soon as I saw all the rainbows in the new mini catalogue & Sale-A-Bration (SAB) brochure, I knew exactly how I was going to use them. Step by Step Tutorial

– Begin with a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card base of Basic White Thick card stock

– Use a Paper Trimmer to cut a piece of Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Series Paper to 3 ¾ x 5

– Run the largest Brilliant Rainbow die through a Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine to crop the following colours of cardstock: Petal Pink, Pale Papaya, So Saffron & Soft Seafoam

– Time to make your rainbow by adhering the die cut coloured cardstock to the DSP card base with adhesive of choice (I like to use the liquid Tombow glue)

– Adhere the card front to the card base using adhesive of choice (again, I used the liquid Tombow glue)

– Stamp the sentiment from the Special Moments stamp set in Versamark Ink onto a piece of Basic White cardstock. Cover with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder & set with a Heat Tool.

– Punch out the sentiment using the Cloud punch

– Adhere the sentiment cloud using Stampin’ Dimensionals

– For an added touch of subtle bling, use a few Iridescent Rhinestones Basic Jewels

For the next sample, I used the same recipe but instead of using the Sunshine & Rainbows DSP, I used the Simply Marbleous DSP. Both sets of DSP & the Special Moments stamp set are all part of the Sale-A-Bration event. Sale-A-Bration is one of Stampin’ Up!’s most exciting promotions of the year, running through February 28, 2022. During Sale-A-Bration, you can earn FREE product with qualifying orders of $50 or $100.

For the final sample, I used the same recipe. But instead of using the soft subtle colours, I went with a more cheery colour set using Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody & Flirty Flamingo cardstock to build the rainbow. The sentiment is from the After the Storm stamp set in the 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue. I stamped it in Basic Grey ink then using my Stamparatus, I stamped it again in Versamark Ink, covered it with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder & set with a Heat Tool. Then punched it out with the Cloud Punch & adhered using Dimensionals.

Pals Blog Hop–Home for the Holidays Treat Bags

I am so ready to be “home for the holidays”. Due to 2020 Covid travel restrictions, we did not gather as a family last year; along with so many others who had altered holiday celebrations. This year, I am ready to gather & to be together!

For this month’s theme, I made a variety of fun treat bags filled with a Lindor chocolate treat. Because you cannot have enough chocolate, right? Let me know which treat bag is your favourite.

Step by Step Tutorial for the Treat Bag-

Start with a piece of DSP cut 4″x6″. On the 6″ side, I scored at 1 ¾, 2 ¾, 4 ½ & 5 ½ . Rotate clockwise then score at the 1″ mark. Burnish all the score lines with a bone folder.

On the 6″ side, cut up to the 1″ score lines. Cut off the right rectangle & discard. Miter the edges of the 1″ tabs & miter the edges on the 4″ side tab as well.

Apply Tombow liquid glue to the 4″ side tab, then fold over to seal & create the treat bag.

Glue the bottom flaps together using Tombow liquid glue. Use the fat end of a bone folder to help press the flaps together & give the bottom a good seal.

Once the glue is set, pinch the sides of the bag together, using the Take a Pick paper piercer tool, poke 2 holes for the ribbon. VERY IMPORTANT STEP- make sure you fill the bag with your treat of choice before tying the top closed with ribbon! Unless you love untying tiny knots…

Snowflake Treat Bag
– Beautify of the Earth DSP for the treat bag (cut to 4″ x 6″)
– Die cut Silver Foil Speciality Pack paper using the Stitched Snowflakes dies
– Elegant Faceted Gems to add a little extra bling
– White ⅜” Glittered Organdy ribbon

Penguin Treat Bag
– Pattern Party DSP for the treat bag (cut to 4″ x 6″)
– Soft Succulent & Evening Evergreen cardstock die cut using the Christmas Tree dies
– Penguin- Penguin punch, Basic Black cardstock, Basic White cardstock, Penguin Place stamp set, Memento Black ink, Penguin punch.
– Scarf- Basic White cardstock, Penguin Place stamp set, Real Red ink, fussy cut.
– 1 ½” Metallic Mesh ribbon

Pinecone Treat Bag
– Tidings of Christmas DSP for the treat bag (cut to 4″ x 6″)
– Pine cone- Crumb Cake cardstock, Crumb Cake & Soft Suede ink, Christmas Season stamp set & Seasonal Labels dies
– Holly leaves- Soft Succulent cardstock, Evening Evergreen ink, Merriest Moments stamp set & Merriest Frames dies
– Sprigs using 2021-2023 In Colour Shimmer Vellum, Flowers of Home die (SNEAK PEEK)
– Artisitry Blooms Adhesive Backed Sequins for the added bling
– Evening Evergreen ⅜” Open Weave ribbon

Poinsettia Treat Bag
– Tidings of Christmas DSP for the treat bag (cut to 4″ x 6″)
– Basic White cardstock, Cherry Cobbler ink, Merriest Moments stamp set & Merriest Frames dies
– Evening Evergreen & Soft Succulent cardstock, Christmas Pinecone dies; snip out the sprigs you want to use
– Opal Rounds to the poinsettia centre & Gold Holly Leaves in the wreath
– Cherry Cobbler & Gold ½” ribbon

I used Lindor limited edition Hot Cocoa dark chocolate truffles to fill the treat bags.

Pals Blog Hop– Fantastic Fun Folds and 3D Projects, Lavender Gift Box

This month’s theme is all about fun folds & 3D projects. With the holidays knocking on our doors, I thought I would get a jump start on some holiday gifts. For anyone who knows me, knows I love lavender. I am still in denial that summer has come to an end even though I was out all weekend winterizing the yard. With everyone washing their hands with a little more intensity these days, I thought lavender hand cream would make a great gift in the cold winter months ahead.

Step By Step Tutorial-

Box Instructions

Cut In Good Taste DSP 7 x 8 ¼

Score on the long side (8 ¼) at 2″, 4″, 6″, 8″; burnish the score lines with a bone folder

Score on the short side (7) at 2″; burnish the score lines with a bone folder

Cut on the vertical lines (2, 4, 6, 8) up to the 2″ score line. Cut off the tiny rectangle & discard

Apply Tombow liquid glue to the ¼” scored area, then fold over to seal & create the box

Glue the bottom flaps together using Tombow liquid glue. Use the fat end of a bone folder to help press the flaps together & give them a good seal.

Lid Instructions

Cut Hand Penned DSP 4 ½ x 4 ½

Score 1 ¼ on all 4 sides; burnish the score lines with a bone folder

Cut the vertical lines on 2 of the sides up to the score line; miter the edges on the 1 ¼” squares

Use Tombow liquid glue to glue the edges to form the lid

Creating the Lavender Bouquet

Die cut the “lavender” from the Harvest dies using watercolour paper.

Water colour the “lavender” using the medium round tip water painter brush using Highland Heather & Old Olive inks.

Once the paper is dry, snip apart to create 3 lavender sprigs. Then, using Tombow liquid glue, build the lavender bouquet.

Cut the linen thread to your desired lengh x2. Pull the threads apart, then tie into a “messy” bow around the lavender bouquet. Trim to desired length.

Adhere the bouquet to the DSP box

Pals Blog Hop – Thinking Thanks and Peace Sentiment Focus

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month, the theme is “Sentiment as a focal point.” We really hope that you enjoy and will be inspired by them! This month’s theme is to focus on the sentiment. This was a simple decision for me, fall is all about giving thanks. And after the last year & a half, there is so much to be thankful for! The Thinking Thanks & Peace stamp set covers all the bases for staple sentiments through the holiday season & beyond.

This card may look complicated but it is super simple thanks to the cut & emboss machine to help create all those gorgeous fall coloured layers.

Step By Step Tutorial-

Begin with a 8 ½ x 5 ½ card base of thick Basic White card stock; scored at 4 ¼.

Adhere a 4 x 5 ¼ piece of Cork Specialty Paper to the card base as shown with Tombow liquid glue.

Die cut greenery from the Forever Flourishing dies in Mossy Meadow cardstock.

Die cut branches x2 from the Harvest dies in Early Espresso cardstock.

Die cut the florals (2 different ones) from the Harvest dies on Water Colour paper.

To colour the flowers on the floral stem, I used Pale Papaya, Calypso Coral & Crushed Curry. I used a “C” block then directly added ink from the ink pad. I used the “medium” sized Water Painter brush to colour the flowers. I use the same technique for the stem using Mossy Meadow.
For the second floral, I used Bumblebee for the floral part & Early Espresso for the stem part using the same “C” block technique.
Once water coloured, set aside to completely dry.

I used paper snips to separate the Bumblebee florals but they could be left all together.

Now comes the super fun part, making the bouquet! I used Tombow liquid glue & the Silicone Craft Sheet to help build the bouquet. I put a little bit of Tombow on the back of the centre flower then starting building working towards the back.

Once you have the bouquet as you like, adhere it to the Cork Specialty Paper using more Tombow liquid glue.

Stamp the sentiment onto a scrap piece of Basic White cardstock in Early Espresso; then fussy cut the sentiment to your liking.

I coloured the wheat using the Water Colour pencil in Crushed Curry.

Adhere the fussy cut sentiment to the card front using Mini Dimensionals.

Add a subtle bling to the card with a few Brushed Metallic Dots.

I did not want to send a “naked” envelope. To remedy that, I stamped a floral image from the Nature’s Harvest stamp set on the front using Bumblebee ink. On the envelop flap, using Tombow liquid glue, I adhered a piece of Neutrals 6×6 DSP in Mossy Meadow (see top photo for the flap) then fussy cut it.
